Kontron AG unveils a commercial temperature range version of its Kontron nanoETXexpress-TT computer-on-module (COM).

The Kontron nanoETXexpress-TTc is designed for the 0C to 60C range and, like the industrial version released in September this year, features the Intel Atom processor series E6xx which runs from 0.6GHz up to 1.6GHz and the COM Express Type 10 pin-out but at a more cost-effective price point.

The COM is designed for individual small-form-factor applications that are not subjected to extreme temperatures such as POS/POI and hospitality kiosks, indoor digital signage, portable medical appliances and small test and measurement tools.

OEMs benefit from the design flexibility offered by the COMs in the Kontron nanoETXexpress family. Their small form factor makes them suitable for small devices ranging from handheld systems, such as those found in medical or smart-metering applications, to small, stationary multimedia terminals, as well as new applications that were not previously feasible due to size and/or power limitations. Using them with custom carrierboards makes individual design development more efficient because there is no need to custom design the kernel itself.

The Kontron COM nanoETXexpress-TTc is 100 percent compatible with the newly defined COM Express pin-out type 10 definition as published in the COM Express Rev.2.0 specification. It allows two displays to be controlled independently. It offers LVDS and Serial Digital Video Out (SDVO) on the newly implemented Digital Display Interface (DDI). Featuring the Intel Atom E6xx processor, it provides up to 50 percent improved 3D graphic performance as compared to previous solutions based on Intel Atom processors. It supports Wind River VxWorks 6.8, Linux, Windows XP, XPe and WES 7.
