Mentor Graphics Corp. has added support for NetLogic Microsystems' multi-core, multi-threaded XLP, XLR, and XLS processors to its Mentor Embedded Linux portfolio, enhancing the company's strategy to create an integrated ecosystem around popular SoCs, including Linux open source enablement.

Mentor Graphics said its Embedded Linux platform offers a comprehensive Linux environment, development tools, and support for a unified workflow methodology that offers designers a quick way to create innovative products with less risks.

NetLogic Microsystems' XLP, XLR and XLS processors are scalable to 128 NXCPUs and are designed for next-generation 3G/4G mobile wireless infrastructure, enterprise, storage, security, metro Ethernet, edge and core infrastructure network applications. XLR and XLS processors are already fully supported while XLP support will follow, Mentor Graphics said.

The Mentor Embedded Linux Essentials for NetLogic Microsystems' processors enable silicon evaluation and system prototyping. The Mentor Embedded Linux Essentials version features an Eclipse IDE, tool chain and Linux BSP while the commercial version of the Mentor Embedded Linux for NetLogic Microsystems' processors offers additional software optimizations, differentiated tools, and commercial support. It is a free download at Mentor Graphics' website.
