Kit harvests energy to charge batteries

Powercast Corp. unveils a development kit for a battery charging RF-based energy harvesting system. The Lifetime Power Energy Harvesting Development Kit is designed for battery-based wireless sensor networks. It features the Thinergy thin-film battery from Infinite Power Solutions (IPS), but it can also charge traditional rechargeable batteries.

The features of the kit include a 915MHz, 3W Power+Data Transmitter (TX91501-3W-ID); P2110 Evaluation Boards (P2110-EVB); 6dBi directional antenna; 1dBi omni-directional antenna; battery charging board (BAT-EVAL-01); Thinergy Micro-Energy Cell Evaluation Card; cable for connecting to Thinergy ADP; and a TI eZ430-RF2500 wireless development tool.

The kit is available for $900.
