Fujitsu Semiconductor has launched a line of 8-bit microcontrollers with built-in segment-display LCD controller amid the growing popularity of segment-display panels in household appliances such as air-conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators and microwave ovens.

The 64-pin MB95470 Series and the 80-pin MB95410 Series operate on 2.4V to 5.5V and integrate flash memory with security functions, as well as LCD control capabilities. Based on the 8-bit microcontroller of the FMC-8FX family, they are also equipped with highly compatible timers, analog comparator, high precision AC/DC converter and oscillation circuit. The 1-wire on-chip debug function allows users to use a small number of pins to perform debugging during product development.

Fujitsu said shipments of the 8-bit microcontrollers will begin in January 2011.
