Arrow Electronics releases its BeMicro software development kit (SDK) desgined to help software developers and hardware engineers to evaluate Altera's Nios II embedded processor.

An easy-to-use, low-cost way to evaluate soft-core embedded processors and simplify embedded designs, the SDK comes in a plug-and-play USB stick form factor and includes an FPGA-based board, software development tools and hands-on labs.

The kit is fully supported with an open-source Eclipse-based integrated design environment, templates and board support package.

Other features are an Ethernet port, microSD slot, on-board sensors and operating systems support. Designers will experience many similarities with their current software development environments while providing them insight into the benefits soft-core FPGA processors provide.

Arrow Electronics is conducting hands-on workshops globally, with demonstrations of the BeMicro SDK board and the use of soft-core processors. Attendees will learn how to create, compile, run and debug a software project in a Nios II embedded processor.
