Vishay Intertechnology Inc. introduces a meter shunt resistor with sense leads designed to be soldered directly to the PCB, eliminating the need for costly flexible leads. The WSMS2908 power metal strip resistor offers 3W of power in the 2908 size package, with resistance values down to 100?.

image nameThe resistor features a proprietary processing technique that produces resistance values of 100-, 250-, 300-, 430-, and 500?. These values allow for increased accuracy in current meter shunt applications for industrial and consumer single- or multi-phase energy meters. With 5 percent tolerance, the resistor provides power companies with more accurate data to determine customer usage and to adjust billing terms.

The device features a five-terminal connection design and all-welded construction. Inductance values are at EMF is The WSMS2908 meter shunt resistor is available now in sample and production quantities, with a lead time of eight to 10 weeks for larger orders.
