LTE PHY ref architectures target 4G solutions
Keywords:reference architectures? LTE? 4G? wireless communication? WiMax?
Added wireless communication standards, such as WCDMA, HSPA+ and WiMAX are also supported through software upgrades.
The User Equipment (UE) reference architecture focuses on both LTE FDD and LTE TDD up to category-4 with ultra-low power consumption and silicon cost which satisfy strict requirements of mobile devices. Moreover, the solution may be easily scaled down to TDD mode only or lower LTE categories to allow additional cost and power savings.
In 40nm LP process, the silicon area of a CEVA-XC based LTE UE may be as low as 4 x 4mm with a power consumption of less than 200mW for Cat-4 PHY system (20MHz bandwidth, MIMO 2x2, 150Mbit/sec). The UE solution shall be seen at CEVA's booth at Mobile World Congress from 14 to 17 February.
Meanwhile, the scalable eNodeB reference architecture targets both LTE FDD and LTE TDD, supporting various end products ranging from residential and enterprise femtocells through to high-density picocells. Such reference architecture is designed around homogenous CEVA-XC processors which feature minimal hardwired logic, easy processor load balancing and C-based software development. Additionally, the architecture enables simple software migration from off-the-shelf wireless infrastructures DSP chips.
