Anadigics Inc. introduces the AWB7227 power amplifier (PA) that promises high linearity and efficiency for use in small-cell base stations.

 AWB7227 power amplifier

The PA supports WCDMA, HSDPA and LTE air interfaces operating in the 2.11GHz to 2.17GHz band, delivering +27dBm of WCDMA power with an ACPR better than -50dBc and 14 percent power-added efficiency. This performance enables femtocells and picocells with farther reach and smaller, more thermally-efficient designs.

Other features of the PA include manufacture using an InGaP HBT MMIC technology for reliability, temperature stability, and ruggedness; typical RF gain of 29dB; support for multicarrier operation in E-UTRA downlink operating Band I.

The AWB7227 PA measures 7 x 7 x 1.3mm in a surface mount package incorporating RF matching networks optimized for output power, efficiency and linearity in a 50 system. Engineering samples of the same are available now for qualified opportunities.
