LED driver touts current accuracy

Supertex Inc. has released the HV9971, a patented, isolated, constant current LED Driver for solid-state lighting applications that boasts high-current accuracy.

The HV9971 has a current accuracy of 3 percent and can control isolated flyback topologies to enable solid-state lighting fixtures to meet UL compliance for galvanic isolation.

The IC utilizes primary side current sensing for reduced component count, circuit size and cost; but despite this, it can still achieve accurate output current regulation. The LED driver maintains current accuracy while insensitive to external component tolerances and does not require an optocoupler. The HV9971 accepts AC input voltages of 80C264V and is optimized for operation at a constant frequency of 100kHz.

"HV9971 requires no secondary current sensing components, making it an ideal solution for reducing board size and parts counts in LED lighting applications," states Stephen Lin, VP of Supertex marketing.

The HV9971 is available in an 8-lead SOIC package (HV9971LG-G). The part is RoHS compliant. Samples are available from stock with lead-time for production quantities of 4-6 weeks ARO. Pricing is $0.88 each for the HV9971LG-G in 1K quantities.
