VEE tech makes pico projections clearer

QuickLogic Corp. introduces its Visual Enhancement Engine (VEE) technology, which it claims increases the viewability of pico projector content without increasing the projector's required light source wattage.

The biggest barriers that OEMs face in adopting a pico projector into handheld devices such as smart phones and tablets are size, cost and the viewability of the projected content. Viewability is generally improved by increasing the projector's light source wattage. However, since pico projectors already typically consume more than 1W in the power environment of a handheld device, this is simply not possible.

QuickLogic's VEE technology provides an alternative technique to improve viewability. Based on the Iridix core from Apical Ltd, VEE dynamically adapts projected content to the viewing environment, resulting in an increase in effective lumens without an increase in light source wattage.

QuickLogic's VEE technology is available now as part of the ArcticLink II VX2 and VX4 solution platform family.
