STMicroelectronics partnership to secure NFC apps
Keywords:NFC? digital? security? NFC apps?
The partnership will focus on addressing the need for a secure element for trusted NFC applications, such as SIM-based solutions. They will develop additional packaged offers including the ST33 EAL5+ chipset from ST for mobile applications, and Gemalto's secure OS, mobile handset software, Trusted Service Management and secure personalization services.
The combined turn-key solution is expected to speed the adoption and implementation of NFC services for contactless payment, transportation ticketing, personal data protection and device integrity.
The development of the embedded secure element incorporates cryptography, matching the latest GP 2.2, JavaCard 3.0.1 specifications as well as Common Criteria EAL4+ and EMVCo certifications. The element will be available both as a system-in-package version combined with ST's ST21NFCA NFC controller, or as a standalone secure element in DFN or micro-SD packages, it will offer a full range of free memory sizes, up to 768 KB, for applications that can be managed throughout the product lifecycle through innovative memory management.
