GPS antenna tips global 3G functionality

Pulse Electronics Corp. launches an ultra-thin, active GPS antenna with global 3G functionality including GPRS, GSM, UMTS, and WCDMA. The W4150GG5000 antenna comes in an elliptical package measuring 100 x 50 x 8mm and can be installed on the vehicle's windshield or dashboard with either side facing up. It receives location information from a GPS satellite and uses the cellular network to transfer this location information to a central control center or third party. The antenna assists in vehicle and asset tracking and location, navigation, emergency call systems, fleet tracking, insurance tracking, and pay-as-you-go transport systems.

The antenna combines a Pulse Electronics GPS ceramic chip antenna, a low noise amplifier and 3G antenna functions resulting in a thinner profile than standard GPS and 3G band antennas while maintaining performance.

The 3G antenna is suitable for global operation providing coverage at frequencies of 824-960MHz and 1710-2170MHz with a gain of 2/4dBi and a radiated efficiency of up to 70 percent. The GPS operates at 1575.42MHz frequency with a gain of 26dBi max.

The antenna comes with RG-174 cable in a variety of lengths and SMA male connectors. Lead-time is eight weeks.
