Spurred by a robust sales growth in 2010, RS Components Ltd has tripled its product lines within China to 135,000 and doubled the size of its warehouse to 4,942 square meters for its China and Asia-Pacific markets this year.

According to Richard Huxley, RS Components' Asia-Pacific regional manager, the company has geared up to meet the region's growing consumer demand this year through a substantial stock-up of electronics and maintenance products that also meant an expansion of its warehouse size and product lines, the launching of its 2011 product catalog in digital format and the increase of its staff complement in China.

The company's newly-expanded warehouse, strategically located at Shanghai's only free trade zonethe Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zonecarries a range of 500,000 products, sourced from over 2,500 global suppliers. It is meant to enhance the company's product and service offerings to customers in Chinaone of its key growth markets in the Asia-Pacific region, Huxley explained.

RS Components opens their new Shanghai Warehouse, furthering the company's lead as the number one high service electronics distributor in China and the region.

He said this substantial stock-up will allow RS Components to maintain what it says is its fast and reliable next-day delivery service to customers in 200 cities in China, including tier-one cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta as it expects to post strong sales growth this year of both its electronics and maintenance products.

The new warehouse will combine both non-bonded and bonded stocks in one location as part of the company's core competence in handling the entire supply chain process in-house and support its promise to customers of same-day dispatch of available local stocks.

RS Components has also recently acquired a state-of-the-art consumer-needs forecasting and web-demand software to better track and anticipate customer demand, thus, enabling the company to stock what customers want and need.

The company recently launched 30,000 products from the semiconductor, passive, connector and electro-mechanical lines that will come in tape and reel, tube, tray and other industry-standard packaging for the benefit of electronic fabs in China.

"We understand that in today's fast and competitive world, operational excellence and speed to market are crucial. Our entire business model is focused on speed of delivery, as well as ease of selection, design, replacement and purchase... for engineers and procurement specialists worldwide," Huxley said.

He added that the company already employs about 1,000 workers in the Asia-Pacific region, but plans to increase its team of 260 China-based employees due to the strong market growth.

"The newly-launched digital catalog (will allow) tech-savvy engineers... to access information on more than 108,000 products," said Huxley, adding that it was developed in response to customers' evolving work patterns and increasing mobility. "(It will also) help our customers become more efficient in their review, selection and procurement processes." The company's paper catalog (China edition) consists of 58,000 high-volume products while its online catalog is listed in a fully-integrated transactional website that features 500,000 products and a continuous product introduction program.
