Conduction cooled, single-board computer debuts
Keywords:conduction cooled? embedded? single-board?
Conduction cooling enables the Emerson Network Power CPCI7203 rugged variant to operate in extended temperatures of -40CC85C versus the zero to 55C capability of the commercial grade board. The storage temperature range is also extended to -50C C125C. The CPCI7203 is further ruggedised to withstand higher levels of sine and random vibration, shock and humidity than commercial standards. Conformal coating is available as an option.
Emerson Network Power has also increased the memory capacity supporting the 2.0GHz Intel Core i7 dual-core processor on the CPCI7203. The board now supports up to 8GB soldered ECC DDR3 memory, increased from 4GB. The conduction cooled variant also now features an optional 128GB solid state hard drive. The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) enhances data security and encryption capabilities.
The Emerson Network Power CPCI7203 supports the CompactPCI PlusIO specification (PICMG 2.30) J2 pinouts for USB, SATA and PCI Express. Connectivity includes SATA ports, one universal PCI and four PCI Express (2.5Gbps) interfaces. An optional rear transition module offers even more connectivity options. Hot swap capability complies with the PICMG 2.1 specification. The Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) supports the PICMG 2.9 specification; the Emerson Network Power CPCI7203 can host the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) or act as a Peripheral Management controller (PM) node.
The Emerson Network Power CPCI7203 supports a range of operating system and software options including Wind River VxWorks, Fedora 11 Linux, Microsoft Windows and Green Hills INTEGRITY.
