Interface Masters Technologies rolls out two low cost 1Gb Quad Port bypass server adapters based on Intel's latest Ethernet controllers, the 82580 and 82576. The product family includes Niagara 42284 and 32284, both of which are designed to integrate with PCI-express (PCI-e) based Inline Networking Appliances, including WAN Acceleration, UTM, DPI, SAN and NAS appliances, and IPS Systems, and Security and Monitoring Appliances such as Firewalls, IDS systems, and Analysis Probes. The Niagara 42284 and 32284 server adapters support Multi-Mode or Single-Mode fiber.

The Niagara 42284 and Niagara 32284 bypass NICs are based on the Intel 82580 and 82576 respectively. Intel 82580 is the latest controller, and comes as a 1GbE Quad MAC/PHY. The 82580 provides PCI-e 2.0 (5GT/s) support, low power 2.7W operation, per packet time-stamping, and intelligent queue support (including virtual machine data queues) optimized for multicore processors. The 82580 also offers VLAN tag insertion, stripping and packet filtering for up to 4096 VLAN tags, Transmit and receive IP, TCP and UDP checksum offloading capabilities and extensive power management features. In addition, the controller possesses specialized features including jumbo frame size of 9.5KB, load-balancing of network traffic flow, IPv6 Offloading, Receive Side Scaling (RSS), and Direct Cache Access. Intel 82580 has broad OS support including Windows, Linux and Free BSD. Intel 82576 is the latest 1GbE Dual MAC/PHY providing high level networking features including PCI Express 2.0 (2.5GT/s) support, 10/100/1000 Based-T auto-negotiation capabilities, low power 2.8W operation, 16Tx and 16Rx Queues per port, enhanced virtualization, layer 2 & 3 security including IPSec & LinkSec, and Intel I/OAT Acceleration v3.0.

"We are proud to announce these low cost and low power optical 1Gb bypass adapters based on the leading Intel technology that addresses the mission-critical uptime requirements of demanding security, storage and networking devices," stated Ben Askarinam, founder and CEO of Interface Masters Technologies. "Niagara 42284 and 32284 shows Interface Masters' commitment to provide industry-leading network bypass technology to achieve maximum uptime, line-rate throughput, and high port density at a premier price-performance."

Niagara 42284 and Niagara 32284 offer features that are essential in today's networking appliances such as: 1) Peak bandwidth 8 Gb/s on PCI Express bus; 2) Handles 4 Gigabit per second traffic load; 3) PCI-e x4 Gen 2.0; 4) Multi Mode Fiber or Single Mode Fiber support; 6) Full Height profile form factor

13W maximum power; 7) RoHS Compliance; and 8) EMC, FCC Class A, UL (Safety) Certifications.

The Niagara 32284 is available now, while the Niagara 42284 will be available for evaluation late May for qualified projects and will be in full production early June 2011.
