ARM Holding plc's process architecture has yet to penetrate the desktop, mobile or x86 server markets, but this early, International Data Corp. (IDC) is already predicting that it will capture a 13 percent market share by 2015.

In the first quarter of 2011 Intel led the market with 80.8 percent unit market share while Advanced Micro Devices and Via Technologies earned 18.9 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively. This totals 99.9 percent leaving other architectures in the rounding noise.

Intel had a larger market share in the mobile sector in 1Q11 with 86.3 percent share while AMD lost market share with 13.4 percent.

The forthcoming report, Worldwide PC Microprocessor 2011-2015 Market Forecast, provides an outlook by server, desktop and mobile PC categories, and includes unit shipments by processor architecture including x86 and ARM.
