Renesas, Imagination extend graphic license deals

Renesas Electronics Corp., a supplier of advanced semiconductors, has extended and signed more multiuse license deals with Imagination Technologies Group for graphics technologies. Imagination makes multimedia IP cores for graphics, video and display processing.

Renesas said it would deploy the technologies from Imagination in its future system on-chip (SoC) designs for the mobile, consumer and automotive markets.

Under the agreement, Imagination will receive license fees and royalty revenues on shipment of Renesas' SoC designs using technologies from the multimedia and communication company.

The license agreements involve Imagination's POWERVR SGX Series5XT IP core family. Series5XT SGX cores are based on a second-generation Universal Scalable Shader Engine (USSE2) that are said to deliver higher锟絧rocessing throughput than the earlier Series5 USSE shader engine.
