Hirose Electric USA is set to release a series of 1.27mm pitch, low profile, swing-lock, wire-to-board connectors for power-guzzling supply applications. Marketed under the brand DF57 Series, the soon-to-be available connector has a height of 1.4mm and a footprint of 18mm2 or 23mm2 for the 2- and 3-position versions, respectively.

According to Hirose, the connectors are ideal for power applications used in LED displays, touch panels, small motors, industrial robots, and other devices with higher power requirements.

"The DF57 Series provides a secure connection and significant current rating of 2A per contact for applications with tight space constraints," said Rick van Weezel, Hirose Electric USA sales and marketing vice president.

The company claims that the DF57 provides a reliable and secure connection with its unique swing-lock, double-locking mechanism. The connector has two locksthe positive lock that prevents accidental socket removal during cable pull and the friction lock that stops the socket from floating after mating.

The DF57 connector is RoHS compliant and is designed to have solder-wicking prevention and high contact lance strength.

The DF57 Series is still in the development stage and will be available in 2- and 3- positions and a 4-position and AWG 28-30 wire sizes.
