FGS' new facility in Mumbai will provide repair services to a leading global OEM of smartphones and also serve as a satellite operations center for FGS' core facility in Bangalore. Its new facility in Turkey, on the other hand, will act as the inbound operations hub for a global brand and leading computing OEM.
According to the Flextronics, these two facilities, which are both fully operational, broaden its competitive footprint in India and add a new service zone for the Mediterranean Rim, Middle East and Africa.
As a strategic business unit of Flextronics International, FGS offers one of the most extensive portfolios of post-manufacturing services in the world, including distribution and supplier-managed inventory, reverse logistics and repair, product transformation and service part logistics.
FGS president John O'Sullivan said the company continues to address strong customer demand for supply chain and logistics services worldwide, specifically in emerging and fast-growing markets where Flextronics International has recently expanded and that its market expansion has become more significant for FGS and Flextronics, as it builds off its market growth last year.
O'Sullivan added, the Mumbai facility has broadened its customer service area and expanded its overall footprint in India, where the company has strategically added new facilities over the years.
"In India, we now have a very competitive footprint to support post-manufacturing service requirements for our customers," O'Sullivan said, adding that Turkey has likewise become an increasingly attractive market for FGS and its customers because of the country's strong domestic economic growth coupled with its prospective EU membership.
