SMSC has ventured into developing wireless audio connectivity and interoperability solutions for PC, tablet, home theater and gaming applications with the release of KleerNet technology.

According to SMSC, KleerNet delivers interoperability between audio products from various brands to allow consumers to instantly connect their KleerNet-enabled devices without the need for special hardware or software drivers.

As a result, consumers will be able to enjoy low power, high quality HD wireless audio technology that is simple and easy to use over a host of home or portable entertainment systems, SMSC said.

The recently-launched DARR83 is the first product in SMSC's KleerNet family. SMSC claims the DARR83 to be the industry's most complete digital wireless audio processor with tri-band frequency support. It also has an embedded multichannel audio controller with USB 2.0 connectivity.

"Consumers are looking to access their digital content from any device, anywhere and at any time," said Gene Sheridan, SMSC senior vice president and general manager for wireless products.

Some of the wireless audio products that incorporate KleerNet technology are 5.1/7.1 surround sound home theater systems, sound bars, sub-woofers, headphones, and gaming and VOIP headsets.

The KleerNet wireless audio products are designed to co-exist with WiFi and Bluetooth traffic and support multiband RF (2.4GHz, 5.2GHz and 5.8GHz), low latency, low power and high bit and sampling rates.
