Multitest reports growing contactor shipments

Multitest reported that its installed base of WLCSP contactors has been steadily growing, with the contactors running high-volume production at subcontractors in manufacturing hubs such as China, Taiwan and Singapore.

Multitest has been shipping WLCSP contactors for the past two years, a period which the company described as relatively short compared to the decades of past shipping contactors for singulated devices.

During this time, Multitest has learned that its contactors last much longer in the wafer-level test environment than in the package-test environment. The contractors have showed outstanding lifetime performance, contributing to unreached cost of test, Multitest said.

Further, Multitest said that while its Mercury probes achieve a good life of 500-700k insertions in package-test environments, it is seeing probes in wafer-level test environments that are lasting 1.5-4M for insertions and continue to provide excellent performance.
