Thermocouple module accepts multiple signal inputs

Opto 22 has launched the SNAP-AITM-4i, a thermocouple and millivolt input module designed to help automation engineers and technicians achieve more accurate temperature readings and data acquisition. The new module accepts up to four inputsindividually configurable and channel-to-channel isolatedfrom a wide range of thermocouples, commonly used in industrial, scientific and medical research applications.

The inputs help save system costs because the new SNAP-AITM-4i module accepts multiple signal inputsreducing the need to purchase separate modules for different thermocouple types or millivolt signals. Built-in, channel-to-channel isolation prevents ground loops that could cause electrical interference and lead to false temperature readings. It also helps panel builders and instrumentation technicians reduce installation and wiring costs, while simplifying panel design.

When used with an Opto 22 SNAP PAC I/O processor or SNAP PAC rack-mounted programmable automation controller (PAC), the SNAP-AITM-4i is ideal for high-resolution temperature monitoring and data acquisition for autoclaves, industrial ovens and furnaces, heat exchangers and any other equipment that requires precise thermal regulation.

In addition to type B, C, D, E, G, J, K, N, R, S and T thermocouple inputs, each of the SNAP-AITM-4i's four channels can be independently configured to accept 150mV, 75mV, 50mV or 25mV inputs. For applications with multiple thermocouple inputs, this flexibility makes installation easier, faster and less expensive, according to Opto. The SNAP-AITM-4i is also optically and transformer isolated and comes with a lifetime warranty.

The SNAP-AITM-4i provides accuracy of 0.06 percent (90?V) at 150mV; 0.1 percent (75?V) at 75mV; 0.1 percent (50?V) at 50mV; and 0.2 percent (50?V) at 25mV (all measurements full scale). Resolution is 6?V from -150mV to 150mV, 3?V from -75mV to 75mV, 2?V from -50mV to 50mV, and 1?V from -25mV to 25mV.

The SNAP-AITM-4i is available now at a list price of $325.
