Sales in TFT-LCD equipment, which fell 32 percent in 2009 and grew 51 percent in 2010, is forecast to increase 4 percent this year and 39 percent next year, according to the report published by The Information Network.

"At the end of 2010 we saw utilization rates above 90 percent for all TFT-LCD manufacturing and nearly 95 percent for G6 and above plantsa driver for increased capex and equipment purchases in 2010. The 51 percent growth is the greatest since 2004," said Robert Castellano, president of The Information Network.

Sales of the array processing equipment were in response to the resurgence in purchases of TVs, notebooks and desktops following the global economic recession in 2009. Korea led in capex spending from LG Display and Samsung.
