SMD quartz crystals give 12-25MHz frequency range

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has launched the XT23 and XT35 series of ultra-miniature SMD quartz crystals. The XT23 and XT35 offer frequency ranges of 12MHz to 25MHz.

Both devices have a low profile of 0.8mm. The XT23 comes in a ceramic package measuring 3.2 x 2.5mm, while the XT35 comes in a 5 x 3.2mm ceramic package. These package sizes are ideal for designing smaller end products.

The series offer frequency tolerance of 30ppm at 25°C. Their frequency tolerance together with their wide frequency range and compact size make the devices optimized for handheld electronic products such as PDAs, GPS units, MP3 players, notebook computers, PCMCIA cards and Bluetooth communications equipment.

The quartz crystals operate over a temperature range of 0–70°C, with a temperature stability of 50ppm. The XT23 offers ESR from 70–100? while the XT35 provides ESR from 70–80?. The devices feature seam sealing and emboss taping and are compliant to RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC.

Samples and production quantities of the quartz crystals are available now, with lead times of eight weeks.
