Schurter AG has introduced the UP1 undervoltage switch. The device monitors supply voltage and actuates a trip release when there is an intense drop in voltage or when supply voltage is interrupted.

As soon as the supply voltage resumes to full capacity, the UP1 device stops the machine or equipment from automatically restarting, causing an uncontrollable surge in voltage. The device helps in avoiding dangerous situations for both the operating personnel and the equipment itself.

The UP1 undervoltage switch can be used in applications such as gardening equipment, gardening shredders, floor cleaning and sanding devices. It can also be used in electrical tools such as circular saws, band saws, grinding machines and drills.

Other features of the device include a two-pole switch, undervoltage trip release with restart prevention, rocker or push-button actuation, dust and jetting water protection IP54 or IP65, and VDE and cURus approval rating of AC-1 16A/AC-3 14.5A at AC 240V.
