Vaunix Technology Corp. has expanded its Lab Brick product line with the introduction of two signal generators that boast low phase noise, 100ms switching time and 100Hz frequency resolution. The LMS-203 operates at 10每20GHz while the LMS-163 operates at 8每16GHz. The LMS series features phase-continuous linear frequency sweeping, optional internal/external pulse modulation and a selectable internal/external 10MHz reference. According to the company, Lab Brick signal generators are known for their compact size, low power consumption and USB compatibility.

The two models offer -80dBc with typical harmonics of -40dBc and subharmonics at -25dBc. They deliver at least 10dBm output power and can be adjusted over a 40dB dynamic range with 0.5dB resolution. The pulse modulation feature internal/external triggering with pulse widths as low as 100ns and pulse repetition intervals of 200ns.They measure 124 x 80 x 40mm (4.90 x 3.14 x 1.59in) and weigh less than 0.45kg (one pound).

The signal generators connect to a host computer by means of a standard USB cable and are controlled via the GUI software that features large display windows to quickly view and adjust the devices' operating parameters. Any USB-equipped PC or laptop, battery or remote power supply〞for non-USB embedded or automated applications〞can power the devices.
