The semiconductor sales that peaked in September 2010 will gradually and steadily increase until the third quarter of 2012 before falling again. This is according to a new market report by The Information Network.

Robert Castellano, president of The Information Network said, "Our proprietary leading indicators (PLLs) show a peak in January 2010 and again in January 2011 that will be mirrored by a rebound in semiconductor sales."

Looking closely at SIA's statistics, a drop in April's three-month moving average is largely attributed to a slowdown in Japan.

IC revenues

"Our PLLs suggest that the upturn in the industry should have occurred in April 2011, but because of the impact of the earthquake in Japan, semiconductor revenues dropped. Macroeconomic factors such as a drop in gasoline prices and subsequent increase in consumer confidence will get semiconductor sales back on track," continued Castellano.
