According to a recent In-Stat research titled "Healthcare and Social Services Spending on Telecom Services: Wireline Voice, Wireline Data, Wireless, Cloud Computing and VoIP by Size of Business," the growth of healthcare services will continue and by 2015, $518 million will be spent on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).

The healthcare and social services market, which include ambulatory healthcare services, hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities and social assistance, posted overall telecom spending just under $16 billion in 2010.Spending for wireless services reached 40 percent of the total spending, with cloud computing as the fastest growing category. The rest was spent on wireline data and voice.

"The healthcare vertical segment across all sizes of business and across nearly all product groups is fast becoming the most robust business vertical segment in U.S. business markets," said Greg Potter, analyst at In-Stat. "Demand for cloud computing services in particular has exploded and we see nothing that would indicate that the trend won't continue at least through 2015," he added.

The report revealed that small businesses with 20 to 99 employees will be the fastest growing size segment in healthcare, growing over 35 percent from 2010 to 2015. In-Stat has also observed that enterprise wireless spending in healthcare will increase by about 12 percent from 2010 to 2011 and healthcare public cloud computing spending will surpass $1 billion in 2013.
