A new line of rectangular-waveguide terminations from Link Microtek Ltd's Engineering Division features forced-air cooling that enable a higher power-handling capacity than convection-cooled alternatives, the company claimed.

The AM-L4 dummy loads are designed to safely absorb microwave signals with a mean power in excess of one kilowatt, making them ideal for the testing and maintenance of radar systems and other high-power microwave equipment. They are available in a range of waveguide sizes to suit operating frequencies ranging from 1.12每40GHz and are equipped with an AC- or DC-input fan, together with an external cowling to direct the airflow over the cooling fins.

The terminations are built as standard from lightweight Alochromed aluminium with a black satin paint finish. Internal elements are made from absorbent cast ceramic material, rated at up to 3000∼C, the company added.

Available options for the AM-L4 terminations include temperature sensors to provide protection against overheating and power samplers to allow monitoring of microwave power levels.
