Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has released a new line of non-magnetic surface-mount multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs) that operate in temperature range of -55∼C to 125∼C. The VJ series is available in 11 case sizes from 0402 to 3640, features a high voltage range from 6.3V每3000VDC and offers a wide capacitance range of 0.5pF每56nF (with C0G dielectric) and 100pF每6.8?F (with X7R/X5R dielectric).

The devices feature a wet build process and a reliable noble metal electrode system. The MLCCs can also be assembled in an SMT process using conductive epoxy bonding or IR reflow, said the company. The capacitors also show less interference than standard capacitors that contain magnetic materials. Applications include filter circuits for MRI equipment, implantable medical devices, ferromagnetic-sensitive instrumentation, electronic test systems and high-end audio amplifiers, added the company.

The MLCCs are 100 percent safety-screened for magnetic properties before final packaging and are available with both C0G (NPO) and X7R/X5R dielectrics. The capacitors provide a temperature coefficient of capacitance (TCC) of 30ppm/∼C from -55∼C to 125∼C (C0G), 15 percent from -55∼C to 85∼C (X5R) and 15 percent from -55∼C to 125∼C (X7R). Additionally, the devices are compliant to RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC and halogen-free according to the IEC 61249-2-21 definition.

Samples and production quantities of the VJ series MLCCs are available now with lead times of nine to 14 weeks for standard orders.
