Richardson RFPD Inc. has rolled out its 56V ultracapacitor modules that target short-term ride-through and bridge power requirements of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. The BMOD0130P056B03 touts 130F of capacitance and is designed to limit the adverse effects of brief power disturbances on sensitive digital systems.

These modules are designed for mission-critical UPS installations in data centers, hospitals, semiconductor fabrication plants, large industrial power users and telecommunication facilities. They are also UL-registered and series-connectable up to 750V. The devices have standard 4U height for rack mounting and claim to have maintenance-free 14-year lifetime in typical UPS applications. The BMOD0130P056B03 also has an overvoltage alarm and has lower cost of ownership (higher ROI) compared to lead-acid battery solutions, the company stated.
