According to the recent In-Stat research, business spending for voice, messaging and data plans is expected to rise 37 percent from 2010C2015, buoyed by the proliferation of wireless handsets and a range of applications and data service plans.

"Across all sizes of business, more and more businesses are realizing the benefits of having data access in their wireless handsets," stated Greg Potter, analyst at In-Stat. "It allows their employees to work both on the road and at home, having access to email and other business applications from their smartphone that enables them to be connected and more efficient."

Wireless service leads small business spending
According to another In-Stat report, small business spending for wireless services will top wireline expenditures by next year. Learn more about the report.

The research titled "Wireless Services in U.S. Businesses: Spending by Plan Type, Size of Business and Vertical Market, 2010-2015" revealed that administrative and support services, healthcare and social services and education are the vertical markets with the highest levels of anticipated growth in spending on wireless services. Mid-sized businesses are also increasingly moving to voice, messaging and data plans from voice-only plans. Additionally, voice and messaging plans spending is set to increase 44 percent during the forecast period. In-Stat expects that the healthcare and social services segment will spend over $483 million on voice-only plans this year. It also predicts that voice and messaging plan spending in the enterprise (1,000 or more employees) will peak at $3.1 billion this year and then begin a slow decline over the remainder of the forecast period.
