Keywords:PV market? polysilicon? Si wafer?

The recent survey by EnergyTrend presents a case for cautious optimism. The conservative outlook for the PV market resulted in polysilicon prices going down. However, the spot price of mono-Si wafer has increased by 0.42 percent.

The lowest listed polysilicon price remains at $50/kg, with main trading price falling between $50/kg and $52/kg. The average price of polysilicon has slightly dropped by 1.98 percent to $51.51/kg. On the other hand, Si wafer price is undergoing a different situation compared to polysilicon. The spot price of mono-Si wafer ranged between $2.5/piece and $2.8/piece, while multi-Si wafer price ranged between $1.90/piece and $2.4/piece. Based on the average price quotation, the price of multi-Si wafer has declined by 0.3 percent to $2.007/piece.

EnergyTrend indicated that since the visibility of module market demand remained low and major manufacturers have not reduced production output, tier two and three PV makers orders plunged and price trend continued to hover in the low end. According to the survey, the average price of solar cell has declined by 3.72 percent to $0.751/W while the average price of module continued to decrease to 2.31 percent to $1.228/W.

Based on the same survey, the demand prospects for late Q3?Q4 of 2011 is unclear. However, the high conversion efficiency product demand remained strong, pushed by mounting orders from the European market. Manufacturers also indicated that while the price stayed low, product examination standards became stricter. Due to this, the Si wafer prices were polarized this week, with price of multi-Si wafer consistently decreasing and mono-Si wafer increasing.
