RF solution boasts 65dB adjacent channel rejection

Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) has launched the CC1120 and CC1121 transceivers and CC1175 transmitter, a set of sub-1GHz RF performance line devices that offers 65dB adjacent channel rejection at 12.5kHz offset and 90dB blocking. These features allow the solutions to deliver connectivity for low-power wireless applications in the smart grid, industrial, security, wireless medical, scientific, and home and building automation, the company stated.

The products can be more than 30 times closer in proximity to other RF systems and potential connection 'interferers' than the competition, allowing streamlined coexistence among various connected devices in one environment. With a 139dB link budget, the products' range reaches beyond 10km and provides maximum indoor penetration. Advanced RF sniff mode also allows systems to listen for RF packets using very low power consumption, with less than 3mA in receive (Rx) sniff mode.

CC1120 and CC1121 transceivers

The single-chip CC1121 radio transceiver is designed for high performance at low power and voltage operation in wireless systems.

The features of the CC1120 transceiver include 12.5kHz channel spacing, down to 8kHz Rx bandwidth and 65dB adjacent channel selectivity. The CC1121 transceiver offers 50kHz channel spacing, down to 41kHz Rx bandwidth and 48/57dB adjacent/alternate channel selectivity. The CC1175 transmitter delivers high-performance transmit, 6.25kHz channel spacing and up to 16dBm output power.

The sub-1GHz RF performance line devices operate in 169, 433, 868, 915 and 950MHz, and are compatible with TI's CC1190 range extender, MSP 16bit MCU platform and TPS62730 step down converter. The line complies with all RF requirements that include FCC P90, ETSI EN 54-25 and ARIB T96, and is capable of filtering out other RF sources. For developers and consumers, this translates to products with robust and reliable wireless links that are resistant to disturbances from other wireless systems in a device's surroundings.

The solution is packaged in an RoHS-compliant, 5x5mm QFN-32. The CC1120DK development kit that supports 868MHz and 915MHz is on offer at $299.
