Innovative new connectivity solution offers way of retrofitting USB functionality into existing system designs.

The USB modules use FTDI's FT232R USB to serial UART bridge chip capable of supporting data rates of 12Mbit/s (USB Full Speed). They allow for quick and easy upgrading of pieces of hardware to the most widely used serial interface standard. Drivers for the modules are available from the FTDI website.

Supplied in a compact 30.8x19. x11.5mm package, each of the modules uses a standard USB mini-B connector. They operate at -40C to 85C as specified for heavy-duty industrial applications. The FTDI DB9 to digital modules cost $15.50 for 1 to 9 pieces.
