Keywords:semiconductor technology? 3G? LTE?

Driven by the scientific and technological revolution, society has started the process of an industrial revolution, which has stimulated the further development of economic globalization and urbanization. The advent of globalization has posed greater challenges to communication technology and the urbanization has incurred a series of transportation problems. The enormous consumption of traditional energy has led to global warming and poverty of resources, while the accelerated aging of populations is making more demands on the medical industry. All these problems need urgent solutions. The swift development of semiconductor technology will play an important role in the challenges brought by these changes.

Cheng: If a semiconductor enterprise wants to gain the advantage of sustainable development in the face of wide market opportunities, it needs to seek more opportunities from the growing point of the electronic market's recovery.

The globalization process has brought people closer together, creating the future need for highly technical telecommunication electronics. Along with the transition from 3G to LTE, the requirements in reducing the signal delay and raising the data rate and system capacity are tremendous, ranging from operation amplifier to data converter, and even radio frequency technology and products.

While the urbanization process brings about an amazing change to the urban landscape, the expansion of urban areas and high population density of core areas will certainly exert a tremendous pressure on urban transportation. In a modernized urban traffic system, automatic control of rail transit and the positioning and communication of the bus rapid transit system are closely connected with semiconductor components and solutions.

In the wake of increasing affluence and accelerated population aging, people are attaching increasing importance to their health, which requires higher imaging definition for medical-testing equipment and more accuracy for assisted-surgery electronic equipment. In addition, portable medical devices and home-based medical devices have been a major driving force in the growth of the Asian medical market. MEMS and other high-performance, semiconductor products and technologies play an indispensable role in the application of medical electronics.

In the face of the inevitable environmental problem of global warming, the semiconductor industry not only keeps to the developing direction of low power consumption and high efficiency to achieve more efficient energy-consumption management of various electronic products, but also commits itself to the development and utilization of wind energy, solar energy and other new energies. Among others, it involves power management and inversion technologies of analog devices, such as converter and sensor.

For a semiconductor enterprise, if it wants to gain the advantage of sustainable development in the face of wide market opportunities, it needs to seek more opportunities from the growing point of the electronic market's recovery and also needs to adjust and maintain its "flexibility," looking at problems in the perspective of the long-term and sustainable development. Adjusting the company's flexibility includes adjusting production efficiency and flexibility of the supply chain, i.e. the inventory cycle and days in inventory to ensure a smooth supply channel. Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) maintains a high percentage investment in R&D, sets up design centers, provides Circuits from the Lab (CFTLs), which have been tested by the company, offers more people-oriented online and offline technical support and customer service as well as launching talent cultivation of university program to better meet the customers' requirements. These all cater to the prospective challenges in the sector. It is our hope that the semiconductor industry, now under challenge, is about to see the signs of a welcome recovery.
