TE Connectivity Ltd has released a line of low-halogen Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) connectors that tout a 0.3mm front flip lock. According to the company, the devices optimize connectivity in small electronic products and features up to 71 positions.

"As TE continues to expand our presence in the FPC connector market, we are excited to announce the introduction of this expanded offering to serve customers with applications requiring connectors outside of the standard range of 10-50 positions," stated Tyler Madden, product specialist, TE Connectivity.

What is an FPC connector?
FPC is an interconnect solution that is ideal where small centerline spacing makes larger wire-to-board interconnects impractical. As the market moves toward miniaturization, FPC connectors have been developed to meet demands of smaller centerline or pitch spacing, lower profile heights and lighter interconnect solutions.

Customers can choose between front flip lock or back flip lock actuators, satisfying various design specifications for consumer electronics, set top boxes, mobile devices, etc. The RoHS compliant connectors are available in Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) and non-ZIF, SMT and T/H PCB termination, and in right angle and vertical mounting orientations.

The company indicated that the products can be used in flat flex printed cable applications, PCs, mobile phones, cameras, personal navigation devices, game consoles, tablets and LCDs.

The FPC solutions are available in centerline spacing of 0.25mm, 0.3mm, 0.5mm, 1mm and 1.25mm. All solutions also incorporate a low profile height and light-weight features, added the company.
