RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD) has announced the RF3928B, a 65V 380W high power discrete amplifier engineered for S-Band pulsed radar, air traffic control and surveillance, and general purpose broadband amplifier applications. According to the company, the device features integrated matching components for high terminal impedances.

The RF3928B features 2.8-3.4GHz wideband operation.

The RF3928B is a matched GaN transistor in a hermetic, flanged ceramic package. This package provides thermal stability through the use of advanced heat sink and power dissipation technologies. Ease of integration is accomplished through the incorporation of simple, optimized matching networks external to the package that provide wideband gain and power performance in a single amplifier, described RFMD.

The product features 2.8-3.4GHz wideband operation, small signal gain of 13dB, drain efficiency of 50 percent and operating temperature from -40C to 85C.
