AVX Corp. has released a multilayer organic RF inductor that claims to deliver tight tolerance in a small footprint. The MLO 0402 series inductor features high-Q, high self-resonance and 1-32nH inductance range, added the company.

"Based on its patented multilayer low loss organic (MLO) technology, the new MLO 0402 series inductor represents a paradigm shift from traditional ceramic and thin film passive SMD components," noted Larry Eisenberger, product manager at AVX. "Since Copper Organic Inductors (COIs) are polymer-based and use high conductivity copper interconnects in a multilayer fashion, the ability to fabricate these components on large area substrates and in laser-direct imaging allow for improved cost and tolerance control."

The low profile MLO 0402 series inductor offers high self-resonant frequency (SRF) and can support frequencies above 1GHz, said AVX. These advanced devices are expansion matched to PCBs, allowing for improved reliability, boasted the company.

The RoHS-compliant MLO 0402 series inductor is ideal for RF power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, filter networks and MRI systems. It can operate between -55C to 125C, offers a 100 percent tin finish and is available in a lead-time of eight weeks.
