NFC sol'n touts double RF range in half power

NXP Semiconductors N.V. has unveiled what it said is its newest flagship NFC device. The PN547 is engineered for smartphone and tablet OEMs to create enhance mobile transactions user experiences, stated the company.

The NFC solution claims to offer double the RF range, reduced footprint by half, five times improvement in wireless data throughput and 50 percent lower power consumption than the company's previous PN544. It touts interoperability with any contactless reader and NFC tag. NXP's mobile transactions solution multiapplication support including full MIFARE family compatibility (Classic 1K, Classic 4K, DESFire, Plus) and native reader device mode functionality for expanded NFC applications such as secure, mobile contactless POS applications and mobile ticketing.

The PN547 comes with multiple interfaces to secure elements, offering flexibility to MNO technology preference and OEMs around secure element form factor (?SD, UICC, eSE). Its benefits are available to all MNOs and OEM customers that market advanced mobile devices designed for the 4G era, noted NXP.
