Vishay Intertechnology Inc. has released a 1W series from its Little Star family of SMD power LEDs. The cool, neutral and warm white devices use nitride phosphor for enhanced color stability over temperature, noted the company. The VLMW712xxx LEDs are geared for a high current drive of up to 350mA, and offer luminous intensity of 33,500mcd (typ) and luminous flux from 67.2-113.6lm (typ).

The LEDs offer thermal resistance of 10K/W. Featuring an SMD power package with a 6 x 6mm footprint and ultra-low profile of 1.5mm, the Little Star LEDs are among the most robust and light-efficient products on the market, claimed Vishay .

Little Star LED

The Little Star LEDs feature 67.2-113.6lm luminous flux.

The VLMW712xxx series LEDs are engineered for conventional lighting and specialized applications. Typical end products include traffic signal lights, architectural lighting, tube lights, indoor and outdoor video and advertising lighting, garden lights, and general lighting; and indicator and backlighting for audio equipment and household appliances such as microwaves.

The devices feature a 60 half-intensity angle and 120 viewing angle, and are compatible with IR-reflow solder processes. The VLMW712xxx series LEDs comply with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC, and withstand ESD up to 2kV in accordance with JESD22-A114-B. Preconditioned according to JEDEC moisture sensitivity Level 2a standards, the Little Star package is lead-free.

Samples and production quantities of the new Little Star LEDs are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
