Richardson RFPD Inc. has released availability and full design support capabilities for a collection of quadrature modulators and demodulators that operate up to 2.4GHz from Analog Devices Inc. (ADI). According to the company, the devices offer a combination of performance, broadband operating frequency and flexible device architecture. As such, the devices are aimed at wireless infrastructure applications such as 2G, 2.5G and 3G cellular base station radios, high-capacity point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radio links, WLAN and aerospace and defense equipment.

The ADRF6806 and ADRF6807 are high dynamic range IQ demodulators with integrated PLLs and VCOs. The fractional-N PLL/synthesizer generates a frequency in the range of 2.8-4.2GHz. A programmable quadrature divider divides the output frequency of the VCO down to the required local oscillator (LO) frequency to drive the mixers in quadrature. Additionally, an output divider generates a divided-down VCO signal for external use.

The ADRF6806 features LO frequency range of 50-525MHz, 135MHz IQ frequency, 0.5 Deg phase error and amplitude error of 0.1dB. It also offers 28.5dBm OIP3 and 12.2dB noise figure. The ADRF6807 features LO frequency range of 700-1050MHz, 170MHz IQ frequency, 0.5 Deg phase error and amplitude error of 0.1dB. It also offers 26.7dBm OIP3 and 13.1dB noise figure.

The ADRF6701 and ADRF6702 provide quadrature modulator and synthesizer solutions within a 6 x 6mm footprint while requiring minimal external components. The low phase noise voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and high performance quadrature modulator make the devices suitable for next generation communications systems requiring high signal dynamic range and linearity. The integration of the IQ modulator, phase-locked loop (PLL), and VCO provides for significant board savings and reduces BOM and design complexity.

The ADRF6701 features RF range of 400-1300MHz and IQ frequency of 500MHz. It delivers carrier suppress of -45dBm and sideband suppress of -40dBc. The device offers -158dBm/Hz noise floor and 29dBm OIP3. Additionally, it operates with 4.75-5.25V voltage supply and 210mA supply current.

The ADRF6702 features RF range of 1200-2400MHz and IQ frequency of 750MHz. It delivers carrier suppress of -46.8dBm and sideband suppress of -44.4dBc. The device offers -157.8dBm/Hz noise floor and 29.1dBm OIP3. Additionally, it operates with 4.75-5.25V voltage supply and 240mA supply current.

Common configurations are in stock and available for immediate delivery.
