Broadcom Corp. has introduced what it claims as the first 40nm dual core hybrid gateway SoC with Web domain security. The BCM7435 enables operators to securely deliver premium broadcast content converged with Web-based content and services to multiple screens in the connected home.

The platform shows video broadcast content streaming simultaneously (with transcoding) wirelessly to multiple devices, while concurrently supporting secure web applications. The BCM7435 will enable operators to offer new, web-based services but at the same time protecting high value broadcast content.

Broadcom's BCM7435 platform has 7,000DMIPs dual-core/quad thread application processing power and also features integrated quad transcoding and MoCA 2.0 for a connected, web-based TV experience. It has four real-time HD transcoding streams for expanded consumer electronics device support, which removes the need for expensive external peripheral hardware.

The BCM7435 platform is available now.
