Broadcom Corp. has released what it dubs as the industry's most advanced 40nm EZ-HD DTA cable SoC solution. The BCM7574 flaunts superior integration and efficiency to help operators transition directly from analog to all-digital basic HD cable TV services, stated the company.

The EZ-HD DTA cable SoC solution features a legacy SCTE55 out-of-band for use on current head-end systems and eliminates lengthy and costly system upgrades, Broadcom stated. It also claims to offer increased CPU, graphics, video and audio processing that enables more advanced DTA user interfaces.

The BCM7574 has an integrated power management controller that lowers system stand-by power to less than 100mW and enables DTA systems to reduce average power consumption by up to 65 percent (in a 24hr period). The device also supports proposed Energy Star 4.0 requirements.

The solution features the company's FastRTV fast channel change technology that accelerates channel changes and addresses a key barrier for consumers and operators moving to an all-digital TV service. The company added that the product delivers universal HD (uDTA) security that touts switchable cardless security for both Cisco and Motorola head-end networks.

The digital adapter supports the Commercial Advertisement Level Mitigation (CALM) that according to Broadcom maintains constant volume across commercial, program and channel changes. Likewise, the device features the DTA reference software stack and application that accelerates design, qualifications and deployment, indicated the company.

The Broadcom BCM7574 is now shipping.
