Microsemi rolls 60W 24-port PoE midspan

The PD-9524G midspan features the energy-efficient PoE (EEPoE) technology. This makes the device suitable for saving power when devices that consume up to 25.5W are deployed, noted Microsemi. In addition, the PD-95xxG midspan series improves network deployment flexibility by enabling users to specify power devices (PDs) featuring a single interface with four-pair detection. Alternative power sourcing equipment solutions can only deliver 60W to PDs with a costly dual-PD interface, which can be prohibitively expensive especially in high-density network installations, the company indicated.
The product includes a gigabit interface to easily support high-power devices such as pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras and thin clients. It also implements two-event classification as specified in the IEEE 802.3at specifications for communications with connected devices. All members of the PD-95xxG series family are designed to power high power network devices over Ethernet cabling, eliminating the need for wiring to external AC power sources, described the company. They also feature proprietary power feed technology that supports all legacy PoE devices.
Microsemi recently completed compatibility testing for its PD-9501G, PD-9506G, PD-9512G and PD-9524G midspans with a network monitor (zero client). The zero client includes an all-in-one LED monitor and can be used for PC-over-IP (PcoIP) cloud computing display applications. The zero client, originally designed to be powered by Universal Power-over-Ethernet (UPoE) switches, is 100 percent compatible with Microsemi's PD-95xx midspan family.
