The MIC28510 delivers up to 100W of power in a 13cm2 device. Benefiting from Micrel's proprietary adaptive on-time control architecture, the buck regulator provides ultra-fast transient response for today's demanding applications such as base stations, Power-over-Ethernet, home security systems and solar inverters, said the company. Micrel added that the MIC28510 integrates low-Rdson, high-side and low-side power switches to provide a highly efficient output down to 0.8V. It is also Any Capacitor-stable independent of output ESR, solving the stability problem power supply designers face with distributed output capacitance, the company indicated.
The MIC28510 offers includes a programmable switching frequency of up to 500kHz, an enable pin for very low power shutdown, internal soft start, undervoltage lockout and internal compenzation. The device also provides protection features such as pre-bias safe startup, over temperature protection, foldback current limit, short circuit protection and a -40C to 125C junction temperature range.
The MIC28510 is available in volume in a lead free 5 x 6mm MLF package. Pricing starts at $2.15 for 1K quantity.
