Integrate LM25066 into Intel Node Manager 1.5 System

One of the most significant concerns in today's data centers is increasing the power efficiency of servers. This requirement is driving system developers to make it possible to monitor and control power from the ac source to the power supply to the blade and beyond. The LM25066 hot-swap controller with telemetry is suited for many of these areas.

This application note was written to help developers integrate hot-swap capability into Node Manager 1.5 compliant systems that have limited support for PMBus enabled hot-swap controllers. Although the LM25066 hot-swap controller has telemetric functionality beyond that required for Node Manager 1.5, there are a number of adaptations that the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) of the blade must perform in order for the LM25066 telemetry to comply fully with Node Manager 1.5. This paper outlines the known PMBus command implementation issues that need to be addressed in order to use the LM25066 in a Node Manager 1.5 environment.
