NXP Semiconductors N.V. has been given a go-signal by Apple Inc. with its engineering workbench iPad app. The semiconductor company launched the app in the App store which was in beta since early February this year.

According to the company, the app was designed not only to help engineers find relevant parts for their projects including product specs, datasheets and application diagrams, but also to put together full projects using available components, store and share them via social networking sites.

NXP Tech Bench

The NXP Tech Bench not only helps engineers find relevant parts for their projects but also allows putting together full projects using available components, storing and sharing them online.

Other features of the app include being able to buy products via distributors, drag and drop favorite documents and pages into engineering projects, share entire projects and details via email and social media, find sales offices and lists of distributors and read product news, press releases and see videos.

"Our new NXP Tech bench allows engineers to create a personalized workbench to search, cluster and store NXP design information in self-defined project sections," said NXP's VP of marketing and communications, Sander Arts, noting that more than 10,000 products, applications and documents were available.
