Developer of multiservice Carrier Ethernet solutions, Telco Systems, has released the T-Metro 8000 carrier cloud gateway aggregation platform.

According to Telco, the platform is the industry's first open architecture, high-density Carrier Ethernet cloud services Ethernet MPLS switching platform. This, says the company, future-proofs the provider network by supporting value-added services including in-cloud load balancing to ensure an high level of experience for the end-user, as well as optimizing carrier resources.

The T-Metro 8000 addresses answers to many of the challenges introduced by cloud-based services including security, resiliency, low latency, load balancing and SLA monitoring. The device comes with the BiNOX operating system software that supports Hierarchal QoS (HQoS), hardware based wire speed OAM, load balancing, VPLS/HVPLS and l2VPN optimized capabilities.

The T-Metro 8000 is also based on Advanced TCA open architecture standards, an open carrier-grade industry standard that enables the seamless integration of additional blades from other vendors allowing for creation of new services and solutions.

Telco System's platform offers up to 1T of capacity in a compact 6RU chassis and up to 240G per line card, providing industry-leading throughput densities, monitoring and resiliency. It enables a wide range of services and an easy migration to a converged service environment, the company said. Telco added that the T-Metro 8000 is the platform of choice to enable wide-scale Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE2.0) adoption, implementation and transformation.

According to Nir Daube, VP of product management at Telco Systems, their carriers' biggest concern is providing assured and secured end-to-end services with low latency and high scalability. He added that the T-Metro combines with the company's EdgeGenie service management solution and their demarcation and aggregation switches allow customers to build a well-optimized scalable MPLS and Ethernet network.

The T-Metro 8000 is currently being tested by several major carriers and will be generally available by Q3 of this year, the company said.
