Connectors for industrial process, automation control apps

Molex Inc. has extended its Brad Micro-Change M12 Circular Hybrid Technology (CHT) connector portfolio with the addition of an 8-pole (4+4) connector featuring two Cat5e twisted-pair data lines and four power lines capable of carrying up to 6A. Combining power and data lines into one connector, the device reduces cabling requirements and lowers installation time and associated costs, detailed the company.

"The overmolded IP67-sealed Micro-Change M12 interface provides reliable connectivity in harsh industrial environments and is ideally suited for industrial process and automation control applications, HVAC control systems, telecoms infrastructure and base stations as well as other rugged applications that require power and data in one device," said Ted Szarkowski, product manager at Molex.

The wrap-around metal shielding allows power and Cat5e signal to be combined in one connector without losing optimum signal integrity and performance. The two overlapping tubes channel the signal through the connector without affecting crosstalk and electromagnetic interference (EMI). The new 8-pole Micro-Change CHT connector is available in the M12 threaded form factor.
